“Twin State Guardians does not exist to replace local baseball programs. We exist to support them. Our goal is to provide additional development opportunities that help athletes improve and then bring those skills, confidence, leadership, and love of the game back to their school and community teams.”
The purpose of the development program is to strengthen baseball throughout the region by giving athletes additional opportunities to train, improve, and stay engaged with the game.
Athletes should continue representing their hometown teams, school teams, Little League, Babe Ruth, Legion, and other programs that are important to their development and communities. Our goal is to supplement those experiences with additional instruction and training opportunities.
Many volunteer-based programs have limited practice time, facility access, and coaching resources. The Guardians Development Program can help athletes work on specific areas—hitting, pitching, fielding, strength, speed, mental performance, and baseball IQ—outside of their regular team activities.
When an athlete improves his skills, confidence, strength, leadership, and understanding of the game, those improvements benefit his school, town, and community teams.
The program is open to collaboration with youth coaches, high school coaches, and other organizations through clinics, coaching education, shared training opportunities, and player-development resources.
Young athletes should not feel pressured to specialize prematurely or choose one organization over every other opportunity. The development program should offer flexible, à la carte training that works around school sports, family commitments, and other athletic activities.
This is especially important. Area athletes should be able to participate in development sessions even if they play for another travel organization. That makes the program a genuine regional resource rather than simply a recruiting mechanism for Twin State Guardians.
Families often travel significant distances for specialized instruction, performance training, and higher-level development opportunities. Our objective is to make those resources more accessible to athletes in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Baseball instruction is only one component. We also emphasize strength, speed, mobility, mental performance, leadership, accountability, confidence, and character.
Stronger youth programs create stronger middle school programs. Stronger middle school programs create stronger high school programs. Stronger high school programs create more opportunities for athletes to continue playing beyond high school.
